ICSD Bond Project Moves Forward

By William G.

Ithaca City School District (ICSD) bond project construction began at IHS this summer with the construction of permanent bathrooms on the athletic fields and the installation of FieldTurf in the Joe Moresco Stadium. The new features are replacing the portable toilets and grass, respectively.

These projects are expected to be completed by the time the 08-09 school year starts. Excavation of the Joe Moresco stadium started in late July. Construction, beginning in August, proceeded according to schedule, despite delays in paperwork processing.

Other projects scheduled for IHS include a renovation of the Kulp auditorium, the addition of a second gym, as well as a strength and conditioning center. However, all of these projects will be completed in later summers. The renovation of the Kulp auditorium is scheduled to start in the summer of ‘09 and end in the summer of ‘10, while the additions to the gym are scheduled to begin during the summer of ‘10 and finish in summer of ‘11.
