- Students react to drunk driving presentation, reenactment - By Scott Z.
- Blood flowed in the Ithaca High School parking lot as firefighters worked to free trapped passengers in a simulated drunken driving wreck on Friday, May 26. The event was designed to teach students about the dangers of drunken driving by having them witness those dangers firsthand.
- Study Finds Low Confidence Rating in Wilson Among Students - By Scott Z.
- Seventy-four percent of sophomores through seniors do not have confidence in Principal Joe Wilson’s ability to lead Ithaca High School, according to a survey undertaken by The Tattler. In October 2004, six weeks after Wilson’s appointment, 66 percent of students said they did not have confidence in Wilson’s ability to lead IHS in a Tattler survey. The increase from October of 2004 to June 2006 in students lacking confidence in Wilson is statistically significant.

- Ron Ferguson traveled to Ithaca High School on Thursday, May 25 to present the data that he compiled from the recently administered Tripod Survey. Ferguson is a Harvard professor, Cornell alumnus, and the Tripod Survey’s chief architect.
- A Taste of Wellness: BoE addresses childhood obesity - By Chris B.
- Based on legislation passed in 2004, a federal mandate (Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004, Section 204 of Public Law 108-265) requires Ithaca High School to adopt a wellness policy by the end of June. In every policy, basic parameters must be set for physical activity and nutrition education standards-although the legislation is vague as to what these parameters must be.

- Ithaca High School’s ninth annual Soldier’s Story Day took place on May 11. Around every Memorial Day, veterans of wars as far back as World War II and as recent as Iraq come to each social studies class to talk to students about their military experiences.
