Paraprofessionals Get New Contract - By Jarrah O.
On Monday, October 2, the Ithaca City School District and the ICSD paraprofessionals union, the Education Support Professionals of Ithaca, announced that they had negotiated a new contract. The previous contract expired in June 2005. Both the Board of Education and the paraprofessional union have subsequently approved the contract.

Last May, students at Ithaca High School took the Tripod Survey. The survey sought to find out how to improve teacher/student relations and to help pinpoint student opinions on achievement gaps.
Correction
>In the October issue of The Tattler, the article “IHS Classes Overcrowded?” incorrectly cited the 1991 Project STAR study. The study dealt with the costs and benefits of class sizes in elementary school, not high school. Project STAR also found that classes of 16 students outperformed those of 25 students. The article claimed that classes of 20 students outperformed those of 25 students.
New Leadership Class Schools Students in Effective Governing - By Eva G.
Student Activities Director Emily Hess is the teacher of a new class, Leadership 101, offered during period zero (8:05-8:55 a.m.) every Tuesday and Thursday. The President and Vice President of each class are required to take the course, and although it is not limited to those in student government, student leaders get priority placement in the over-enrolled class.
