The class of 2007, through each of its years at IHS, had never seen the Ithaca Varsity Football team win a game. On September 1, 2006, with a 24-20 victory over Solvay High School at Syracuse University’s Carrier Dome, that all changed.

Sixty-six percent of teachers have confidence in Principal Joe Wilson’s ability to lead IHS, according to a survey of teachers conducted by The Tattler. Forty-seven percent of respondents, a plurality, feel that the IHS of the 2005-2006 school year had improved over the IHS of the 2004-2005 school year.

Associate Principal Brenda Dalmida will not be returning to work at IHS for the 2006-2007 school year. She is leaving IHS to spend more time with her father, who is sick with kidney disease and lives in the Virgin Islands.

The few remaining weeks of Ithaca High School’s 2006-2007 scholastic year were marred by letters sent out to numerous students concerning their AP classes. The letter explained that there was a possibility the students might not get into the classes in which they had hoped to enroll.

The district-wide Wellness Policy is a plan to improve the health of students. Because each school within the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) is different, the district plan calls for each school within the ICSD to create its own sub-guidelines.
Homeroom Cut from School Day - By April S.
Citing low attendance and its unreliability as a message-delivering venue, the IHS Leadership Team has decided to eliminate homeroom for the coming school year.
